#MyCallToTheWorld was an engagement campaign which gathered young people’s testimonies voicing what they want to change for the future of the world.
Through submitting an environmental ‘proposal for the future’, bespoke #MyCallToTheWorld digital posters were then generated for each participant, sharing their statement and the place they are making the call from. The coloured sound globe in the centre of the poster was animated to react to a voice recording of the statement, making each poster unique to the individual participating.
These statements were witnessed by the Scottish public at the end of September 2021 via digital billboards and phone kiosks in Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness and Perth, before being archived and displayed in a virtual gallery space as part of COP26. The statements ranged in content; from concerns regarding the health of the Earth’s forests and seas, to practical advice about achieving change through both governmental policy and individual action. On being disseminated through digital screens across the country, these posters confronted the public passerby in their everyday movements, asserting the importance of environmental consciousness, compassion and kindness, coming from a generation who will be living it.
The campaign was further developed during the Phone Call to the World Interactive Exhibition at CCA Glasgow in November, during COP26. Having engaged with the diverse artworks on display, visitors were then invited to participate by writing their own environmental statements on #MyCallToTheWorld postcards and installing them in the space for the remainder of the exhibition, allowing audiences to visit and witness the diverse proposal themselves. When the exhibition closed, those submitted statements were gathered and generated into digital posters, each of which were then uploaded to the #MyCallToTheWorld virtual gallery – continually evolving and reverberating alongside one another.

Please note, the interactive element of the virtual gallery is best experienced on a desktop computer.
